30 Day Blog Plan
Since I started my blog and began learning how to manage it successfully, I’ve been bombarded with different tactics to help me grow my readership.
For example:
- Having my RSS feed in a prominent place.
- Having a newsletter option.
- Using audio and video.
- Encouraging comments.
- Having certain plugins.
- Using a certain blog platform/software
The list goes on and I am still learning.
But there is one message/tip/advice, call it what you like, that stands out from all the rest:
Post On A Regular Basis.
In fact, to have a successful blog that satisfies thousands of readers, the advice is to ‘post at least every day’.
This is the advice that my blog mentor – Yaro Starak advocates in his Blog Mastermind program.
But it is also the advice from nearly every blog I have searched out, that has a readership in the tens of thousands.
Post original content every day. That’s how to run a successful blog. So we are told.
My concern is that these posts are surely going to be lacking in quality. Surely you cannot post meaningful, original content every day that benefits your readers.
When I started blogging I made a conscious decision to only post to my blog when I had worthwhile material to share.
I didn’t and still don’t want to turn my blog into a personal diary of boring daily activities and holiday snaps.
So I was in a dilemma. Follow the advice of the experts and just post something everyday, or follow my own gut instincts of only posting when I have information that will benefit my readers?
Mmm interesting…
Here’s what I concluded…
I love internet marketing. I love talking about internet marketing. That’s why I started this blog.
The ‘thought’ of posting an article every day is very scary! What could I possibly post every day to keep my readers interested and entertained?
But then I got a blank sheet of A4 paper and began listing all the possible articles I could write about that I had experience of or that interested me.
Within an hour I had filled both sides of the paper without a struggle!
Holy cow! My problem now seemed to be not so much what I could possibly write every day, but what to write first.
I didn’t actually know, what I actually know…until I started to write it down!
Now it seems I actually know quite a lot!
Not only that, I have more than enough material to post every day. Good quality, beneficial material.
So will I now post every day?
The answer is no…not yet!
But hopefully I will soon.
For someone that has had a blog for a long time, then yes, posting everyday should be part of their routine.
But for us blog virgins, I don’t think it is realistic to go full throttle and post everyday. I think there is a strong case for blog overload and ‘burn-out’ if we do.
So this is what I’ve decided to do:
My 30 Day Blog Plan
For the next 30 days (The whole of August), I will post twice a week.
One of the posts will be a product review or a blog review or an investigative article of some sorts.
The other post will be an article that I deem to be worthwhile, entertaining and beneficial to you, my beautiful reader!
That’s it!
This may not seem like much of a plan, but it is a goal I feel comfortable with and I know I can achieve.
I also have a few other projects I’m working on right now away from this blog, so I can’t devote a great deal of my time to The-Profit-club…yet.
When the 30 days are complete, I will evaluate how the process has gone and re-assess my plan for the next 30 days.
If you’ve completed or tried anything similar, I would love to hear about it.
