Get Organized For Your Next Project

Being organized is very important when running an online business.

Recently I have been managing 3 major projects that have taken up the vast majority of my time. But I’m sure I could have completed tasks quicker and easier if I were a little more organized.

One way to help with organizing projects is to use a flow chart. This method ensures you complete each step in order and you don’t miss anything out.

I love these step by step charts. It helps you see the whole project laid out and makes it less daunting.

Here’s an example of a very basic flow chart you may use to create a project:

Creating an Information Product

Brainstorm Ideas - Hobbies/interests/skills/past experiences/specialized knowledge (write them down)

Choose 3 of your best/favorite ideas

Research demand - Wordtracker/Google

Research related products - Clickbank market place

Decide on title

Register domain name

Create report/ebook - Write yourself or hire ghost writter

Write Salesletter

Etc. etc.

The list can be as detailed or brief as you like. The idea is to not miss anything out.

You could also break down certain parts of the flowchart to create separate flow charts.

For example, for ‘Create report/ebook’ your sub-flowchart could look like this:

Decide on title

Research content - Google/websites/physical books/own knowledge

Outline Chapters - Table of contents

Add content

Create PDF version

Again you will have a ‘to-do’ list that ensures you don’t miss anything out.

Here's a more professional looking one!:

You can create flow charts for all aspects of your business. (If you're like me, you'll have them pinned to your wall!)

Mind Mapping

Another good way to keep organized is to use 'Mind Maps'.

Mind Maps are a great way to organize a new project, especially if it has lots of components.

I remember using them when I was at school and they really do work!

The other day I found a really cool resource that makes it really easy to create ‘Mind Maps’.

Bubbl.us is a new, (free) web-based service where you can create as many mind maps as you like.

You can start building your mind maps immediately and then take a few seconds to create your free account.

You can save your mind maps online, print them out, paste them into an existing webpage, share with others and even create a mind map collaboratively with other Bubbl users.

Here’s a mind map I created using Bubbl. It is by no means perfected and I will probably add /amend it to include more processes, but it was fun to do and really quite usefull.

It took just 10 minutes to create and with a little more time will be an excellent source of reference for my affiliate marketing projects.

It really is a simple concept but by using Bubbl you can create some professional looking maps that can be edited, expanded and improved upon.

Mind maps help you see the whole picture or project and from there you can create your flow charts based on a 'to-do' list!

I intend to create some mind maps to help me organize my projects. Not only do they look great, they will also become a major part of my online business because they'll help me be more organized.

Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think. www.Bubbl.us

Also let me know if you have any suggestions on how else it may be used in an online business.
