My 30 Day Blog Plan – Update

On 30 Jul 07 I wrote an article entitled ‘My 30 Day Blog Plan’.

I decided that I would write at least 2 posts for my blog every week for the whole of August and see how difficult or easy it was to achieve.

As I have a few other commitments that take up my time, I wasn’t sure how much time I could devote to ‘The-Profit-Club’.

I also want to follow the guidelines that Yaro Starak suggests in his ‘Blog Mastermind Program’ of posting every day.

So I gave myself an attainable goal of posting twice a week for 4 weeks to start with.

It’s now just over the 4 weeks and I found it to be a reasonably comfortable target.

I now want to increase the frequency to 3 times a week. This will be either 2 posts and a product review or just 3 posts.

Again, it doesn’t sound like a lot of work, but I have other work commitments and will be out of the country for 7 days from 8-14 September.

So I’m going to have to write 4 times in 3 weeks to meet my goal.

I would be very interested to hear about your blogging goals and posting frequency. Do you struggle to post every day or does it come easy to you?

Obviously I am not at the stage yet to invite guest bloggers to write posts for me. (Unless you’re offering!!) But this is definitely something I will need to seek out in the future if I want to free up some more of my time.

Over the last 4 weeks or so I have noticed that it seems to take me a long time to write a post.

I had it in my mind that I could start writing a post at 8.00am and finish by 10.00am. Unfortunately it is often taking me an hour or 2 longer than I envisaged.

I am putting this down to my initial inexperience. I certainly don’t want to be spending more than 2 hours writing a post and will hopefully reach this target over the next month or 2.

So this month I will be monitoring how long it takes me to write a post.

Obviously a 500 word post won’t take as long as a 1500 word one. But I would like to aim for approx 750 words in 2 hours.

I will also give myself half an hour to proof read it and publish it.

This blogging lark is still very new to me and I have much to learn. But I’m convinced that building a successful blog and earning an income from it, is a great business model to have.

The good thing to take from spending 2 or 3 hours on a blog post every day is that most people won’t do this.

If you can discipline yourself to posting original content on a regular basis (preferably every day), then you will have a distinct advantage over your competitors.

This is a thought you can adopt when you don’t feel like writing.

I know that by posting consistent, original content, I will start to develop a successful blog and eventually be in a position to monetize it.

As the saying goes – “if it was easy, everyone would be doing it”.
