What Is Your Source Of Inspiration?

We all need inspiration from time to time.

We all need to experience things that act to inspire and motivate us.

A ‘shot in the arm’ when we need it the most.

It’s important that you have this type of material around you, so you can access it whenever your life isn’t quite going as planned.

It could be a favourite book that you love to read or a quote that has real meaning to you. It might be a film or piece of music. It might even be a person or a place.

Whatever works for you to act as a source of inspiration.

If you don’t have such material to call upon once in a while then I truly believe you’re missing a real opportunity.

I’ve read books and watched films that have honestly changed the way I think and feel about certain situations.

One book in particular is ‘Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. This book inspired me to try things I’m sure I would never have tried without reading Susan’s book.

I won’t go into great detail, but I was a very shy and insecure kid. This lasted well into adulthood until I read that book. That one book totally changed how I was and how I acted – almost overnight.

The book was so profound I thought it must have been written just for me! It acted as my inspiration and still does to this day.

Another book that has had a big influence in my life is by Lance Armstrong – 'It’s Not About The Bike'. I read this book whilst serving in Afghanistan in 2005. Not only did it inspire me, but it gave me courage and a real sense of inner strength.

If you are not familiar with Susan Jeffers or Lance Armstrong – no matter. The point is, I refer to this material whenever things aren’t going quite so great for me. If I was a religious person, I’m sure I could find many works from the Bible that would inspire me.

I feel very lucky that I’ve read these books and for my life to have become so much better for it.

So take some time out once in a while and do the thing that inspires you the most. It really is the best micro-holiday you can go on!

If you can’t think of any one thing that really, truly inspires you, then go out and read some autobiographies. Read some self-help books or listen to a motivational speaker. Go to an internet marketing seminar and spend 5 minutes talking to your favourite speaker.

Your source of inspiration could come from anywhere and it really can be a life changing event.

Now I could be barking up the wrong tree here. Perhaps people don’t have any material they call upon to inspire them. Perhaps they just get on with things and deal with situations in their own way.

I would love to know what your source of inspiration or motivation is.

Also, do you know what really inspires your family and friends? Do you know what inspires even just 1 of these people?

Do you think it would be good to know what inspires other people?

Heck I don’t have the answer to that, but I think it would be very revealing.

If you would like to share what inspires you, please drop me a line at Peter(at)The-Profit-Club(dot)com or add your comments below.

Before I wrap this up I want to show you some footage that really inspires me to do the best I can:

"Pain is temporary, it may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, if i quit;however, it lasts forever." Lance Armstrong my motivation and inspiration.

Hi Peter,
My inspiration is Napoleon Hill who worked 20 years for a millionaire[without pay] to write "Think And Grow Rich" at the expense of his family and freinds thinking he was crazy.
He "went the extra mile"….
It makes one realize that get rich quick is a fairy tale as they say and you have to roll up your sleeves to make things happen.
Regards,
John

That's a good one John.

Think And Grow Rich is a classic!

It's quite funny you should mention that. I actually WON the original manuscript to Ted Ciuba's version of Think And Grow Rich - 'The Millenium Update' at the World Internet Summit in London - Dec 2004!

I've still got it sitting in my book shelf. And it was that seminar that inspired me to persue a full time career in internet marketing. - 2 years later I quit my job!

Yep - inspiration indeed!

Loved your post and wanted to share some of the quotes that do inspire me in times of need, and we all have such times - don't we ;)
The 1st one is:
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe." Anatole France 1844-1924, French Novelist
this one I read and re-read every time that I feel down and am ready to quit. After reading the above mentioned quote I never quit :)

The 2nd one:

"The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers. But above all, the world needs dreamers who do."

This one is from an anonymous sourse but I love and use it every time when I feel disappointed that again another to make it happen with the things I love doing is not bringing money. By reading and pondering the above i am not going to give up for another while :)

The 3rd one is a funny one and I'll end my sharing of quotes with itin the hope it inspires others to go on!

Give me the luxuries of life and I will willingly do without the necessities. - Frank Lloyd Wright

Have a great week ahead and thanks for such an inspirational post!

I John,

Let share wiyh you, and with whoever read your blog, my sources of inspiration.

What inspires me are the teachings of Buddha and the five principles of Taekwondo.

When I feel down I remember what Buddha tought as being the causes of suffering, and when I feel like quiting a challenge I remember that I am a Taekwondo athlete, and as such, I strengten my courage and perseverance.

Two strong sources of inpiration indeed, for those who really understand what they can deliver.

Joaquim

I enjoy your site. The way it's done inspires me along with so many things I read and the businesses I've had.
I've written an ebook that I think is pretty good and have given it to several people for comments and only one guy read it and told me to go ahead because it's good. I'd like to get testimonials but guess this will come.
Now,who can inspire me on website design and advice? I also want to be an affiliate like you and I started with "Insider Secrets". How do you get opt-ins for those clicking through the affiliate links? Without landing pages, how do you check the keyword that triggered the click?
I don't want to ramble but I started my web life with http://www.thecunningclown.com where I have no control.I just wanted to get my feet wet and I did.
I'm pretty good at copy but putting it all together isn't easy. Are services like guru, encoder and elance good?
HELP! Thanks, Peter….BILL

An inspirational book for me is "If I Say No I Feel Guilty" by Manual Smith. My mother gave me a copy back in the 70's and I have bought many copies since to give to friends that were feeling downtrodden in life.

As far as being internet marketing inspirational, making sales always generates a lot of energy, as does nice unsolictied emails telling me I'm doing a good job. I also enjoy reading others' success stories, as long as they're not of the genry that "I started on Tuesday and made a million by Thursday". ;-)

Bill:
You really need your own website. That way you can collect names and email addresses and build your list. You can use a free wordpress blog to start off. Ideally you want your own domain and a good autoresponder.
Keywords are key, or rather 'longtail' keywords. Here's a great free tool that I always refer to for longtail keywords:
http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/
This will tell you what people are typing into search engines relevant to your webpage.
I use elance and rentacoder quite a bit to outsource projects especially graphic work. Digital Point is also a great place to find cheap but good designers. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/

Adrienne:
Yes seeing sales come in is always a great pick-me-up! :-) As do positive comments/emails.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Peter, thank you for the opportunity to speak up!
I follow the 'alternative' healing arts.
I am greatly inspired by Gary craig, founder of Emotional Freedom Technique. His DVD's warm my heart and leave me astounded.
Also Prof. Park Jae Woo of SuJok Therapy. His philosophy helps me make so much sense of what goes on around us. [Awful as it may be.] He reminds me of the Kaballa. Too bad that his internet presence is relatively undeveloped. Speaking of which, how can I start earning money on the internet?
Glad to take part in your valuable forum! Abraham
